ABOUT Me

Who Is José?

As a life-long learner, I have confirmed that my biggest passions are lecturing and teamwork. Today, I am devoted to sharing my time, experience, and knowledge with young professionals willing to enhance their job performance and personal lives. During my 26+ years of corporate life, I was a reliable business professional with extensive experience in coaching and mentoring sales teams. I have a proven track record of successfully achieving quotas in Mexico and Latin America. I have developed the following skills during my professional career:

  • Education: I possess a Ph.D. in Business Administration, a Ph.D. in Human Development, an MBA, and a Master´s in Human Development. Additionally, I have other job-relevant certifications, including coaching and leadership.
  • Teaching Experience: I possess 34 years of teaching experience: -part-time- (overnights or weekends) or -full-time-, at different private and public Universities in Mexico (UIA, UIC, UVM, UMP, ITESM), both face-to-face and online instruction, with classes ranging from 8 to 80—experience working with LMS (Moodle).
  • Industry Experience: With 26+ years of relevant industry experience, I am a seasoned professional in business development, sales, coaching, and organizational development in regional, national, and international companies. My consulting practice has allowed me to get to know several clients from the inside and be satisfied with delivering value to their businesses.
  • Teaching Philosophy:
I support students to help them learn independently while gaining tacit (experiential) knowledge and technical knowledge.
The teacher is a supporter of the student rather than a knowledge transfer medium. I need to know that I am part of my students´ adventure of learning at the university level.
In my experience, awareness learning (as I call it) has been the best way of helping my students learn through reflection. I am committed to constantly improving my pedagogical practices by rethinking better ways to engage students with the content of my courses.
  • Pedagogical approach:
  1. I believe in the importance of using different forms of learning for students, incorporating active learning approaches (e.g., Socratic method, flipped classroom, group learning), and other digital tools (e.g., pallet, Kahoot, genially), and addressing different learning styles. I support my students using AI tools like ChatGPT, AI Chat, and Chat Smith to improve their research and learning activities.
  2. I believe in creating an inclusive and supportive classroom environment where all students feel valued and respected. I mentor and coach them for personal and professional growth to better allow them to follow a meaningful academic and career roadmap.
  3. I am interested in what students are learning, how they can learn more effectively, and how to build up opportunities for student engagement inside and outside the classroom; therefore, I constantly check and provide feedback to my students as a way of getting individual indicators of performance in a kind and warm environment.
